Blown bitumen is hot-applied or sprayed bitumen for damp-proofing and bonding bitumen membranes.
Handling and storage
At normal temperatures, bitumen is a solid substance. It must be stored in a hot state, or heated to working temperature in a bitumen pot before use. Long-term storage in a heated condition should be avoided to prevent possible hardening. During the warm months, bitumen pallets must be stored protected from sunlight.
Environment
Bitumen is not hazardous to the environment. Small solid waste items can be transported to a landfill. With regard to the disposal of large bitumen volumes, the municipal authorities should be contacted.
